US stoping Online Casino And Gambling transactions

January 29th, 2007

Lately the US government has went after banks located in other countries wanting data to link the online gambling establishments to US transactions. As online casino players, and poker players are extremely upset, the government doesn’t seem to care.

US citizens should have the right to do what they want in there own homes with there own money, especially for something that is legal in many area’s. I could see saying you can not gamble period if it were illegal at landbased casinos as well. If the public does not fight this law, then what will be next? Is the US really the land of the free? I think not. Freedom of choice has been taken away, free speech has also been violated time and time again. If the public does not fight this law, then what will be next?

Choice of religion?
Banning online shopping?
Banning any purchases online?
Not allowing people to go to dating sites?

Well with all the identity theft online, spam emails, scumware, teen porn, viruses, you would think the govenment would be more concerned about that, than if someone is spending there own money on entertainment.

Write the senate and congress and let them know how you feel.

In Oct the US passed a bill to stop online transactions to casinos and poker rooms which operate offshore. The bill neglected to make it illegal for players, just was made so that banks are suppose to stop the transactions. This does not go into effect for 270 days. What is very interesting is that MGM is now looking at buying online casinos and poker rooms. Makes you wonder if this was the plan all along?
